Active learning to acquire practical and applied skills

At Rissho University Faculty of Business Administration, we combine theory and practice, and theory and skill, to impart not only knowledge of business administration, but also the human qualities necessary for living in society - i.e., collaborative creativity - and to acquire the ability to discover, analyze, and solve problems.
First, by combining theory and practice, we deepen learning that is closely tied to the workplace, and by combining theory and skills, we support students' learning by providing courses to help them acquire skills essential for studying business administration, such as computer skills and bookkeeping, as well as qualifications in information technology and accounting, in order to survive in an organization.
We also place emphasis on fieldwork, going outside the university to conduct surveys and research, proposing product development and services for revitalizing the local area, and conducting research and visiting shopping districts, companies, and government offices.
Students will compile the knowledge they have gained through classroom learning and the results of their fieldwork and research, and give presentations at seminar presentations and at other universities.

That is why Rissho University Faculty of Business Administration has set "co-creation power" as its educational policy. Even in small-group seminar education that begins in the second year, the goal is to cultivate the knowledge and ability to "co-create" to create an environment where people can coexist while respecting each other, learning not only about the structure of an organization, but also the feelings of the people who work and live there, and the relationships between people.

Characteristics of undergraduate education

In order to provide learning opportunities where students can experience theory and practice, Rissho University Faculty of Business Administration has formed close partnerships with organizations such as the Tokyo Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, and offers a "Special Course in General Management" course, inviting managers and frontline practitioners as lecturers. This is a popular course that has been offered at Faculty of Business Administration for over 20 years.
In addition, we have internships where students go to companies or organizations to experience the workplace. Every year, many students, mainly third-year students, participate in these internships.
Furthermore, we also place emphasis on acquiring media literacy, and in the special course "Communication Special Lecture 9 (Media Literacy)" held in collaboration with Fuji Television Network, Inc., students produce interview videos and record in the studio to produce mock news programs under the guidance of Fuji Television staff. Through the process of planning, creating and executing a work plan, students acquire the ability to act and use information, i.e. media literacy.

In addition, the school offers a wide range of courses to support students in their careers. For students who wish to work in the financial industry, Nomura Securities offers a course endowed by Nomura Securities, and for students who wish to work in accounting, such as becoming a tax accountant, a full-time bookkeeping instructor is assigned to provide a wide range of seminars and courses. There are also many courses to acquire various qualifications, such as tax accountant and Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 and Level 3. In addition, for students who wish to acquire various qualifications, such as accounting technology and information technology, there are many courses to prepare for various qualification exams and certification exams. Furthermore, in order to acquire the IT skills necessary in society, all students Faculty of Business Administration are provided with a laptop computer, and they learn basic software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in class.

Four courses taught at Faculty of Business Administration

In the first year, you will learn the basics of the four main fields of business administration: strategic management, marketing, accounting, and information systems, and in the second year, you will have practical learning in seminars in specialized fields that interest you, and you will be free and active. We will deepen our research through detailed discussions. By learning to become management experts, you will acquire skills that will lead to a career, and by working together with your seminar friends to achieve your goals, you will acquire human skills and develop the ability to co-create, which will enable you to shine in any era. cultivate.

  • Strategic management as a corporate scenario

    Strategic management, which is essential for companies to grow and compete, is a scenario for each company. You will learn mechanisms and mechanisms to make scenarios more interesting, such as ideas for organizational building and human resource development, and methods for building management systems.

  • Marketing to sell

    Marketing, which is important for selling a company's products and services, involves thinking about how to present and convey information. You will learn how to create a system that will sell by analyzing consumer thoughts and psychology, including market research, product development, brand building, distribution strategy, and advertising.

  • Accounting to learn about organizational management from a financial point of view

    Money is necessary for businesses, national and local governments, and individual business owners to operate their businesses. In accounting, students learn about management from a money perspective, such as how to raise business funds, calculate the costs of making things, record and calculate the money spent, and how to use money effectively.

  • Information systems science that considers the present and the future

    Information systems science considers the present and future of companies and information and communication technology (ICT) in an information society that is evolving day by day. Students will understand the optimal relationship between ICT and management, such as information analysis that supports corporate economic activities, improve operational efficiency, and how to utilize it for business, and learn about further possibilities.
