FAQ

Moving in (moving)

Q.When can I move in?

A.Moving in is scheduled for March 30th. Due to preparations, you will not be able to move in before the 29th or after the 31st.

Q. How should I move?

A. Please choose from the following three methods for moving. You can also use multiple methods.

  1. Use a moving company other than those designated by the university
Please make your own arrangements. In addition, the university will specify a date and time for the delivery of your luggage in order to prepare for reception.
  2. Use a private car
Please drop off your luggage at the parking space in front of the Unidens main entrance.
  3. Use courier service
Please send it on the date and time specified by the university. Even if parcels are sent to Unidence before the specified date, we will not be able to collect them due to storage space constraints. In that case, the package will be returned to your home with cash on delivery.

*There are very few parking spaces in front of the Unidens main entrance. If you use a moving company other than that designated by the university, or if you bring your belongings in your own car, you may have to wait for a long time. Please note.

Q. How should I go about the electrical procedures?

A.Please complete the procedures for starting use with each power company in advance. Please note that if you do not sign an electricity contract in advance, you will not be able to use electricity on the day you move in. At that time, please be sure to also include a contract for a fee deduction. Due to the nature of water heaters, they use a large amount of electricity at night, so we recommend a plan with lower nightly charges. We also recommend that the contract amperage is 60 amperes (air conditioner 20A, water heater 20A, household electricity 20A).

Q. How should I go about paying for water and gas?

A. There is no need to take any action as the water bill will be borne by the university. Unidens is an all-electric home, so there is no need to install gas. Additionally, to prevent fires, it is prohibited to bring in cassette stoves, gas cylinders, etc.

Q. How should I go about the internet procedures?

A. Optical internet cables (NTT East's FLET'S Hikari exclusive) are installed in each room. Please make your own arrangements. Please note that we plan to include information on recommended companies in the set of documents we will send to you once your move-in has been decided. Please refer there. For details, please contact NTT East and other telecommunications companies, electronics retailers, etc.

Q.Can my family be present when I move?

A. Family members can help with the move. However, please note that it is not possible to stay overnight in student rooms.

Q.When I move, a home appliance company will bring the TV to me, but will they be able to enter my room?

A. You can enter the room by completing the necessary procedures at the front desk.

Q. When I move, a contractor will come to install the internet, but will they be able to enter my room?

A. You can enter the room by completing the necessary procedures at the front desk.

Lifestyle

Q.Can I cook my own meals?

A. For disaster prevention and health reasons, cooking is prohibited. Please use the student cafeteria on the first floor of Unidence. Bringing in rice cookers, microwave ovens, portable stoves, gas cylinders, etc. is also prohibited. There is one microwave oven each on the 1st, 7th, and 11th floors, and also in the cafeteria (Saha). However, meals that do not require cooking can be eaten in your room. In addition, by presenting your student ID card, you can ride the local bus between Rissho University and Kumagaya Station South Exit/Shinrin Koen Station for free. Please use it when eating or shopping.

Q.What are the prices and menu at the cafeteria (Sahar)?

A. A set meal costs around 400 to 500 yen, and noodles cost around 200 to 400 yen. The menu is different for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Q.Is there a convenience store near the university?

A.It is located on the university campus and is open on school days.

Q.How much is the water and utility bill?

A.The university will pay the water bill. There are no gas costs as they are not used. Electricity costs vary depending on the season, but are around 2,000 to 10,000 yen. Rates vary greatly when using air conditioners in summer and winter.

Q.What time is the curfew?

A. There is no curfew, but the main entrance will be locked between 11pm and 7pm. During this time, only those with the Unidence key can unlock and enter the Unidence.

Q.Is there a TV in the room?

A.There is no TV installed in the room. If you need one, please prepare a TV and antenna cable (about 2 to 3 meters). If you bring an analog-only TV, you will need a separate tuner. For details, please refer to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications homepage.

*If you want to install a TV, please make a broadcast reception contract with NHK.

Q.Can I watch BS broadcasts?

A. You cannot watch BS broadcasts through the shared antennas that connect to each room. If you wish to install a BS antenna or similar separately, you must notify Kumagaya Student Affairs Section. Also, make sure that the installation is done by an installation company.

Q.I would like to use a landline phone.

A. Landline telephones cannot be installed. Please use the IP phone after signing an Internet contract.

Q.What kind of lighting equipment should I prepare?

A. Lighting equipment is installed in the room, so there is no need to prepare it. In addition, if a light bulb burns out, please notify the front desk and we will replace it free of charge. We do not have stand-type lighting fixtures to place on your desk, so please bring your own if you need one.

Q.Can I bring a refrigerator?

A. A refrigerator (freezer/refrigerator integrated one-door type) is provided, but if an additional one is installed, the space in the room will be severely limited. It may also cause damage or stains to the floors and walls, and you may be charged for repair costs when you move out.

Q.Can I bring heating equipment?

A.To prevent fires, heating equipment that uses kerosene, etc. is prohibited. Also, please be careful when using electric heating, as it may cause a fire due to its electrical capacity.

Please note that the cost of the shower curtain will be deducted from your security deposit when you move out.
