We subsidize medical expenses when patients receive treatment at a hospital due to illness or injury, and provide cashback benefits to promote health.

Precautions when receiving medical benefits and condolence payments

■Notes regarding medical benefits, injury and illness consolation benefits, and treatment equipment consolation benefits

  1. The medical expenses subsidy provided by this mutual aid association for each mutual aid member is limited to a total of 50,000 yen per month and 250,000 yen per year, which is the sum of medical benefits and injury and illness solatium benefits (including treatment equipment solatium payments) (Article 2 of the Terms of Use). Article 34). If you use a contracted medical institution for more than this amount, the mutual aid association will send a billing notice and payment slip to the guarantor notified by the university (or to the guarantor for graduate students and international students), and the billed amount will be refunded. please.
    Please note that medical expenses for the current year that exceed the upper limit cannot be claimed from the following year onward (Article 34-2 of the Terms and Conditions).
  2. If you are a victim of a traffic accident, the medical expenses will, in principle, be borne by the at-fault party, so you will not be eligible for benefits from this mutual aid association. If you receive duplicate benefits, you will be required to return the benefit amount.
  3. If Japan's public medical insurance system does not apply, you will not be eligible for benefits from this mutual aid association. When traveling overseas, please purchase your own travel insurance.
  4. Claims for injury and sickness benefits are only possible if you receive treatment for the same illness or injury at the same hospital in the same month. You cannot add up "illness and injury" or "different injuries" or "different diseases" even if they are from the same month and the same hospital.
    *However, this does not apply to cases where a letter of introduction has been issued by the hospital.
  5. Dental treatment is not covered. Even if you receive treatment at an oral surgery department, etc., if you receive treatment based on the dental treatment fee point table, it will be treated as "dental treatment" and will not be eligible for benefits.
  6. Once you graduate (completion) from university, you will lose your qualifications as a mutual aid member and will no longer be able to receive benefits from the mutual aid association. Mutual aid members in the year of graduation (completion) will be separately notified on noticeboards of the deadlines for applying for and receiving various solatium payments by around March of the relevant year.
  7. If you are injured in class, club/circle activities, or in an accident while commuting to school, you may be covered by the Student Education and Research Disaster Accident Insurance, which all current students are enrolled in.

When a person enrolled in medical insurance (insured person) and his or her family (dependent) receive medical treatment covered by medical insurance, 70% of the total medical expenses will be paid by the medical insurance, and the remaining 30% will be paid as a co-payment. (or as a co-payment).

If you use a medical institution (hospital, pharmacy) with which this mutual aid association has a contract, the 30% contribution will be billed directly to the mutual aid association from the medical institution, so the mutual aid member (student) will need to pay at the medical institution. there is no.

Main scope of medical benefits

  2. Dispensing at a contracted medical institution (pharmacy) based on a prescription issued by a contracted medical institution (hospital, etc.)

What medical benefits do not apply to

  1. Dental treatment (regardless of insurance coverage)
  2. Medical treatment not covered by medical insurance (cosmetic surgery, vaccinations, laser vision treatment, various documents, pregnancy, childbirth, induced abortion, etc.)
  3. Treatments such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and massage
  4. Treatment by a judo therapist (excluding cases of fractures, dislocations, bruises, and sprains)
  5. Non-insurance combined medical expenses (differential bed charges, initial consultation fees without a referral from a major hospital, etc.)
  6. Treatment equipment and items similar to the above that are not covered by insurance
  7. Health checkup, complete medical checkup
  8. Cases in which the cause of illness or injury is considered to be a tort.
  9. Acts of third parties (traffic accidents, medical expenses due to fights, etc.)
  10. What is covered by workers' compensation insurance (work-related/commuting accidents)
  11. Dispensing prescribed by a person other than a contracted medical institution (insured medical institution)
  12. Meal treatment expenses (not based on medical fee point table)

Benefit limit

The combined total of medical benefits, injury/illness benefits, and medical equipment benefits​ ​is limited to 50,000 yen per month and 250,000 yen per year. If you receive benefits that exceed the limit or benefits for treatments not covered by benefits, you will be refunded. The Mutual Aid Society will send you a claim notice and a transfer slip, so please return the claimed amount.

Flow of benefits

When visiting a contracted medical institution or dispensing medication, you can automatically receive medical benefits by presenting your mutual aid membership card (student ID) at the medical institution's reception desk. At this time, there is no need to pay money directly to the medical institution. However, if the benefit limit is exceeded, a refund will be required to the mutual aid association at a later date.

Precautions for use

  1. When using the service, please be sure to present your mutual aid membership card (student ID) and health insurance card to the contracted medical institution counter. If you do not present it, you will not be able to receive medical benefits.
  2. Dental care is not covered by medical benefits.
  3. If you submit a prescription issued by a contracted medical institution (hospital, etc.) to a contracted medical institution (pharmacy), you will not be eligible for medical benefits. Please apply for injury and illness compensation after paying the actual expenses.
  4. If the amount exceeds 50,000 yen per month or 250,000 yen per year, including medical benefits, injury and illness benefits, and other condolence benefits, the excess amount will be billed at a later date.
  5. Depending on the nature of your treatment, you may be required to pay actual costs for items that are not covered by insurance. Please bring cash with you to your appointment just in case.
  6. If you are not covered by public medical insurance and need to use a contracted medical institution, please contact the Mutual Aid Office (Student Life Division) before using the facility.

The total amount of medical and drug costs covered by insurance for one month (from the first day to the end of the month) paid by a medical institution other than a contracted medical institution is 3,000 yen for the same injury or disease, same medical institution, and same medical fee. In the above cases, 70% of the self-pay amount will be paid (rounded down to the nearest 10 yen).

  • Applications and benefits for graduating/completion year students after January will be announced on the portal site or bulletin board by around March of the relevant year.

Treatment equipment consolation money payment

For treatment covered by medical insurance, if a therapeutic brace or something similar to a therapeutic brace (corset, etc.) is manufactured based on a doctor's instructions, you can receive a medical braces solatium payment.

How to apply

  1. Receive instructions for making the brace from your doctor, make the brace, and pay the price to the brace manufacturer.
  2. Please apply for medical expenses to your public medical insurance (health insurance association, etc.) and receive medical expenses.
  3. Please apply online to the Mutual Aid Office (Student Life Division).

How to receive benefits

  • After receiving your application, we will notify you on the portal site when we are ready to hand over your benefits. Follow the instructions to proceed with the procedure for receiving benefits.
  • The benefit will be transferred to your bank account approximately 40 days after application.
  • Transfer may be delayed depending on the application status.
  • If there are any deficiencies in the submitted documents, we will contact you via notification on the portal site or by phone. Please note that in that case, payment will be delayed.

Benefit amount

70% (rounded down to the nearest 10 yen) of the cost of manufacturing the brace, excluding medical expenses paid by public medical insurance.

Within 6 months from the month following the receipt date of the brace production cost.

  1. Certificate issued by a medical institution stating instructions for manufacturing the brace (copy accepted)
  2. Receipt for brace manufacturing costs issued by the brace manufacturer (copies accepted)
  3. Medical expenses payment notice issued by each medical insurance (copy accepted)

Rebate benefits (Gappo no Yado (contracted recreational facility))

The Student Health Insurance Mutual Aid Association has established contracted recreational accommodation facilities (commonly known as Gappo no Yado) in 54 locations across the country, with the aim of improving the physical and mental health of mutual aid members.

When using these facilities, if you complete the procedures at the Student Life Division, you will receive a certain amount of assistance per night out of the total accommodation fee.

It can be used for a variety of purposes throughout the year, such as leisure, hot springs, gourmet food, and sports, at an affordable price, so please use it for training camps for clubs, circles, seminars, and having fun with friends.

  1. Make a reservation at a contracted resort facility

    Please contact the contracted resort facility you wish to use directly to make a reservation.
    When making a reservation, please be sure to state that you are a Rissho University student.

  2. Apply to the Student Life Division

    Please submit the "Facility Usage Application Form" to the Student Life Division.
    When submitting, please attach a copy of the mutual aid membership card (student ID) for all users.
    After completing the procedure, we will give you a "Facility Usage Certificate".

  3. Complete the procedures at the contracted resort facility.

    When you arrive at the contracted resort facility, please present your mutual aid membership card (student ID) and submit your "facility usage card."
    If you do not submit it, you will not be able to receive assistance from this mutual aid association.

Notes

  1. The mutual aid association will not be held responsible for any accidents or troubles that occur on-site.
  2. If you need to stay overnight due to sudden changes in weather, etc., you will be responsible for the full amount (payment will be made on-site).
  3. If you plan to use a car, be sure to check with your accommodation.
    Parking spaces may be limited and additional parking fees may apply.
  4. Depending on the facility, you may be required to bring your own pajamas, toiletries, bath towels, etc.
    Please check with the facility you are using for details.
  5. Be fully aware of yourself as a student.
    Please be careful of accidents and troubles while traveling and take care to manage your safety.
  6. Expenses other than accommodation fees (facility usage fees, etc.) must be borne by the applicant.

Rebate benefits (sports club NAS)

The Student Health Insurance Mutual Aid Association subsidizes the use of the sports club NAS Osaki located at Osaki Station with the aim of improving the physical and mental health of our mutual aid members.

When using the facility, you can use it for 550 yen per time if you complete the procedure at the Student Life Division.
(However, up to 6 times in the same year)

  1. Complete the procedure at Shinagawa Student Affairs Section
    • Please fill out the "NAS Osaki Application Form" at Shinagawa Student Affairs Section.
      Once the procedure is complete, a subsidy voucher will be issued.

      *However, you are limited to one per application and six per fiscal year.
      *Please return any unused tickets by the end of the month following the month of intended use as stated on the "NAS Osaki Usage Application Form."
      *If you have any unused tickets that have not been returned, they cannot be issued.
      *Not available at Kumagaya Student Affairs Section.
  2. Complete the procedures at the contracted resort facility.
    • Please submit your usage assistance ticket at the sports club NAS counter and present your mutual aid membership card (student ID).
      You will not be able to use it unless you submit and present it.

Please be sure to return any unused vouchers to the Shinagawa Student Affairs Section counter.
If you have a subsidy voucher that has not been used for a long period of time, the university may call you.
