Student education and research disaster accident insurance

Student Education and Research Disaster Accident Insurance (Gakkensai) is insurance that pays out in the event of an injury.
All students are enrolled in the program when they enroll. (The university handles the enrollment procedures and the insurance premiums.)

If you are injured in the following situations and the number of days of hospital treatment exceeds the number of days in the table below, you will be eligible for insurance payments.

Accident situation Treatment days
During face-to-face classes (during online classes, this may apply depending on the situation)

While in school facilities (excluding during extracurricular activities (club activities))
Commuting to school
While moving between school facilities, etc.

In the case of hospitalization, an additional hospitalization fee (4,000 yen per day) will be paid regardless of the number of days listed above.

If you are injured in any of the above situations, please report your injury using the form below.
(When applying for insurance, as a general rule, you must report your injury within 30 days of the accident.)

Procedures in case of an accident

① Confirmation of expected number of treatment days

Please check with the hospital you are visiting to find out the estimated number of treatment days until complete recovery.

② Input details of injury (accident notification)

If it is expected that the number of treatment days will exceed the allotted number, please immediately enter details of your injury (accident notification) via the official Gakkensai app or official LINE account.

③Confirmation of acceptance notification from insurance company (receiving email)

From the next business day after completing the entry in ② (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), you will receive an email from the insurance company (Tokio Marine & Nichido) to the address you entered in ② regarding future procedures.
*The insurance company may contact you regarding any deficiencies or unclear points.

④After complete recovery, report treatment details (submit insurance claim form)

Please use Forms from the URL (on the web) listed in the email you received in step ③ to report the details of your treatment.
*The insurance company may contact you regarding any deficiencies or unclear points.
In addition, the insurance company may check with medical institutions, etc. regarding the progress and details of treatment, severity of symptoms, circumstances at the time of injury, etc.

⑤Transfer of insurance money

Please note that the insurance money will be transferred to your designated account approximately two months after step ④.
You will receive information from your insurance company via postcard, etc. about the amount to be paid.
Your insurance company will also contact you if you are unable to pay.

*Except for Faculty of Geo-Environmental Science and Faculty of Social Welfare, none of the schools are covered by the Gakkensai Supplementary Liability Insurance (abbreviated as "Supplementary Liability Insurance"). However, students participating in internships run by Career Support Center will be covered by the Supplementary Liability Insurance when they participate.
