About Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship

The purpose of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is to "provide an appropriate learning environment for students studying at universities in our country, and thereby foster creative human resources with rich humanity who will be responsible for the next generation of society." and contribute to the promotion of international mutual understanding." We provide scholarships and grants to outstanding students who have difficulty completing their studies due to financial reasons.

JASSO loan-type scholarships must be returned. The system is such that the scholarships returned by seniors are lent to juniors as scholarships. For more information, please also check the JASSO homepage.

Recruitment period

  1. Current recruitment (regular recruitment) *Available for 1st to 4th year students

    As a general rule, "student recruitment", which is a new application made by a university after entering a university, is conducted twice every year, in the spring (during April) and in the fall (during September). It is also called "periodic recruitment" because recruitment takes place on a regular basis.
    Please be sure to check the application deadline on the university website, etc., and be careful not to miss the application period.

  2. Reservation recruitment *Only applicable to first-year students who have completed application procedures at high school

    If you apply at your high school before entering university and become a candidate for recruitment (reservation recruitment), you will need to complete the necessary procedures in early April immediately after entering university. please note.
    *New applications cannot be made at the university for this reservation recruitment. If you are applying for a new position after entering university, please apply from 1). Current recruitment (regular recruitment) above.

[For those whose household finances have suddenly changed]
If your family finances suddenly change and you find yourself in financial difficulty, please contact the Student Life Division immediately. You may be able to apply for this system.
(Example) When a person who maintains their livelihood loses their job, retires, takes a leave of absence, dies or divorces (divorce, disappearance, etc.), goes bankrupt, becomes ill, suffers from a disaster, etc.
