Extension of your period of stay

International students with "College Student" status are allowed to stay in Japan for two years and three months at longest. Your period of stay needs to be extended by the expiration date if you wish to continue studying in Japan.

Temporary leave and re-entry

You must obtain a "Re-entry Permit" at a regional immigration bureau before leaving Japan temporarily, and come back to Japan within the permitted period.

Permission to work part-time

As the purpose of your coming to Japan is to engage in study and research, you are assigned the status of residence "College Student". Part-time work is not permitted under this status unless permission is granted by the Immigration Bureau. This permission allows you to work within 28 hours a week.
